National Apprenticeships Week is here

National Apprenticeship Week is here! And this year, the 15th annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships is encouraging everyone to think about how apprenticeships can help us #BuildTheFuture.

Building the future

There’s never been a better time to get behind this theme. So many trade sectors are facing skills shortages that threaten to impact future industry. In the automotive sector, the IMI predicts that by 2030 there could be a shortfall of 35,700 qualified technicians needed to work on electric vehicles. While in construction, a study by industry training body CITB predicts the sector will need 217,000 new workers by 2025. This equates to over 50,000 new construction workers per year – there are currently only 30,000 per year.

One thing is clear, the demand for skilled professionals has never been higher. And we believe that Draper Tools has a part to play in supporting those who choose apprenticeship, whether they’re young students or those that retrain later in their careers.

Supporting the education sector

Over the past year, we have been working with several colleges, training facilities and industry bodies, developing supportive relationships and learning more about the education sector. We have a dedicated Education Liaison Officer, Terry Melia, who told us more about his mission: “It’s been an honour to get to know this fascinating sector and meet so many expert lecturers, as well as interact with the students. We firmly believe that quality technical training and teaching should be accompanied by quality tools to deliver the best possible learning experience for all. That’s why we’re working to build long-lasting partnerships and really get behind the #BuildTheFuture message.”

Draper Tools is proud to have played a key part in the opening of a new automotive centre at Shrewsbury College with a donation of essential tools and equipment

Tools for success

We research everything there is to know about tool design, technology and application to ensure that our tools meet the continually advancing needs of our customers. We strive to ensure that they stand up to the rigours of trade use. And we’re proud to assist in the education and training of successive generations of tradespeople across every vocation.

Draper Tools welcomes students to its head office

But our dedication doesn’t end there, Draper Tools regularly welcomes students to its head office to learn more about the industry and what goes into ensuring tools are up to the job. We also create bespoke kits, have Draper demo vans to help teach best practices, support student award ceremonies and so much more. We’re always learning and adapting what we do to best support apprentices and training providers.
